That beeping is not random – your APC UPS uses different patterns to tell you exactly what is happening. Here is how to read them.

Common beep patterns
- Beeping every few seconds – the UPS is on battery (mains is out or out of range). Normal during an outage; save your work.
- Rapid/continuous beeping – low battery. Only minutes left; shut down soon.
- Long continuous tone – overload. Too much connected; unplug something.
- Periodic chirp even on mains – often a replace-battery warning after a self-test.
Quick fixes
- On-battery beeps: check whether wall power is actually out; if mains is present, check the input connection.
- Overload: remove high-draw devices (never a laser printer). The alarm then clears.
- Replace-battery: if the UPS is 3+ years old and runtime dropped, fit a genuine replacement battery (RBC).
- Constant beep with no outage: power down, wait, restart. If it persists, the battery or unit needs service.
Silence it temporarily
Most APC models let you mute the alarm, but treat the mute as a reminder to fix the cause. If it is a worn battery, a new pack restores both runtime and quiet. See our UPS range.
